Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to help you get the most out of FrameTimeSync
1Getting Started
Q:How do I set up my photography profile?
During first launch, you'll be guided through a quick 2-minute setup. Choose your photography subjects (People & Portraits, Street & Urban, Nature & Landscapes, or Details & Macro), select your mood preferences (Bright & Cheerful, Moody & Dramatic, Soft & Romantic, or Cinematic & Bold), and pick your preferred weather conditions.
Q:Can I change my photography preferences later?
Absolutely! Go to Settings → Photography Setup → Update Photography Preferences. You can modify your subjects, mood, and weather preferences anytime to get better personalized recommendations.
Q:Why isn't my location being detected?
Make sure location permissions are enabled for FrameTimeSync in your device settings. The app needs precise location access to calculate accurate sun times and provide location-specific weather data.
2Understanding Scores & Timing
Q:How does the 0-100 scoring system work?
Weather conditions are scored based on YOUR photography style. For example, rain might score 20/100 for portrait photography (harsh lighting) but 85/100 for street photography (great for reflections and mood). The app learns your preferences and tailors scores accordingly.
Q:What does 'Prime Time Active' mean?
Prime Time Active appears when current conditions score 70+ for your photography style. It's your signal that conditions are excellent for shooting based on your preferences - perfect time to grab your camera!
Q:How accurate are the golden hour and sunset times?
Times are calculated using precise GPS coordinates and astronomical algorithms, accurate to within minutes. Golden hour, blue hour, and sunset times are customized for your exact location.
3App Features & Usage
Q:How often does weather data refresh?
Weather data loads fresh each time you open the app. You can manually refresh by pulling down on the main screen, with a 5-minute cooldown between manual refreshes to prevent excessive API usage and preserve battery life.
Q:Why do I see different scores for the same weather?
Scores are personalized! The same cloudy conditions might be perfect for portrait photography (soft, even lighting) but challenging for landscape photography (lack of dramatic light). Your profile determines how each condition is scored.
Q:Can I use the app without an internet connection?
The app needs internet connection for weather data, but once loaded, you can view current information offline. Sun time calculations work offline since they're based on your location and date.
Q:Does the app collect my personal data?
No! FrameTimeSync uses on-device storage only. Your photography preferences, location data, and usage patterns stay completely private on your device. We don't collect, store, or share any personal information.
